چکیده
Abstract Background In the setting of coronary care unit (CCU), early detection pneumonia is para-mount important to prevent severe complications. This study was designed aiming evaluate diagnostic accuracy lung ultrasound (LUS) in and compared with chest x-ray (CXR). Method We enrolled 110 consecutive patients admitted CCU Federico II University Hospital. Each patient underwent CXR bedside LUS on admission. The final diagnosis (pneumonia vs no-pneumonia) established by another clinician reviewing clinical laboratory data independent results possibly prescribing contrast-enhanced CT (n=34). Results Mean age 70 ± 11 years old, 68% males. Pneumonia clinically 26 (23%) patients. positive for 24 (sensitivity 92% specificity 81%). Chest radiography 9 43% 95%). Using scan as referee exhibit sensibility a 96%. ROC curve analysis 0.86 (95% CI 0.77-0.94), higher than 0.68 0.55-0.84), p<0.05 (Figure). Conclusion Based findings present study, significantly x-ray, comparable scan.

Lung ultrasound is an accurate diagnostic tool for the diagnosis of pneumonia in the emergency department.
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of bedside lung ultrasound and chest radiography (CXR) in patients with suspected pneumonia compared with CT scan and final diagnosis at discharge. Design A prospective clinical study. METHODS Lung ultrasound and CXR were performed in sequence in adult patients admitted to the emergency department (ED) for suspected pneum...
متن کاملLung ultrasound as a diagnostic tool for radiographically-confirmed pneumonia in low resource settings
BACKGROUND Pneumonia is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in children worldwide; however, its diagnosis can be challenging, especially in settings where skilled clinicians or standard imaging are unavailable. We sought to determine the diagnostic accuracy of lung ultrasound when compared to radiographically-confirmed clinical pediatric pneumonia. METHODS Between January 2012 and Sept...
متن کاملUrine microscopy--an important diagnostic tool.
With the development of a wide range of blood tests and multiple test strips (dipsticks) for testing urine, urine microscopy often seems to be forgotten both in everyday use and in the literature on diagnosis of kidney and urinary tract disease. However, existing European guidelines stress the importance of urine examination, including the use of microscopy (1). In the following, a brief summar...

متن کاملLung ultrasound in the diagnosis of pneumonia in children: proposal for a new diagnostic algorithm
Background. Despite guideline recommendations, chest radiography (CR) for the diagnosis of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in children is commonly used also in mild and/or uncomplicated cases. The aim of this study is to assess the reliability of lung ultrasonography (LUS) as an alternative test in these cases and suggest a new diagnostic algorithm. Methods. We reviewed the medical records o...
